We created the Non-profit organization The Organization for Generational Identity, we believe every young person deserves to feel seen, understood, and supported—regardless of the cultures they navigate.
Our organization is dedicated to advancing research on identity development among minority and second-generation immigrant youth. Through original research, community partnerships, and educational outreach, we seek to better understand how cultural identity influences belonging, mental health, academic experiences, and personal growth.
Working alongside students, educators, and researchers, we collect and analyze data to identify patterns that traditional measures often overlook. Our current work includes developing a research-based cultural identity index designed to help schools better recognize students experiencing acculturative strain—the challenges that can arise when balancing the expectations of multiple cultures. We created the Youth Identity & Community Engagement Survey and two composite indices: the Culture Impact Index (CII) to measure cultural influence and the Mental Health Concern Composite (MHCC) to measure culture-related emotional strain.
Our vision is to create practical, data-informed tools that empower schools, strengthen communities, and ensure that every student has the opportunity to develop a healthy sense of identity and belonging.
Through collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to evidence-based solutions, we aim to turn research into meaningful change for the next generation.
